Best quote in a while about global warming…

In the article Sixteen Concerned Scientists: No Need to Panic About Global Warming, physicist Ivar Giaever is quotes the American Physical Society policy on global warming: ‘The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.’

His next quote is priceless and dead on:

“In the APS it is OK to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible?”

One Response to Best quote in a while about global warming…

  1. Steve Winsor says:

Would be nice if someone could actually, and with authority, determine which side is right…or perhaps ‘more right than wrong’.

On the one hand, the proponents of global warming/climate change claim their opponents (i.e., credentialed scientists who claim it’s a hoax) are corrupted by money paid to them from the energy industry, which seeks to derail talk of climate change that could hurt their businesses.

On the other hand, opponents of global warming/climate change claim that the scientists who publicly declare their support for global warming/climate change are only doing so because it’s a lucrative market for obtaining grants (based on fear of future catastrophe).

Brian, which group are you benefitting from…Big Energy or Big Lucrative Grants? šŸ™‚
